Applications
are invited for a Postgraduate Scholarship funded by an
ARC Discovery Project Grant for full-time postgraduate
research studies leading to a PhD. The project is to
investigate mechanical properties of piezoelectric
biological materials and structures through theoretical
analysis, computation and numerical simulations, as well
as experimental investigations. The successful applicant
must have an Honours degree or equivalent in mechanical,
aerospace, materials or a related area, and a sound
knowledge of smart materials, solid mechanics and finite
element method. Experience on mechanics testing or finite
element analysis would be an advantage. The scholarship is
valued at $17,609 pa (tax exempt) and will be tenable for
up to 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress.
Australian permanent residency or citizenship is required.
